Ep . 018: Order vs. Chaos
If you are given lemons, make lemonade. That was my philosophy this week in the city as I set out to make art.
Welcome to Makati City, Manila.
I arrived at Burgos Street in Makati in the evening of the 27th of March. For those of you who know Manila, you will know that this is the Red Light District.
I swear, I had no idea! 🤷♂️😂
I found out thanks to the taxi driver as I arrived at my destination.
A common misconception people tend to believe about digital nomadism is that once you embark on that journey, you basically achieve unlimited freedom without restraint and can do what you want whenever you want. While this may be true for some individuals, I would argue that for most of us, it is not.
At least not if you try to build something.
Then the question rapidly becomes: How can I structure my day and the required good habits in a way that they align with my goals?
The thing is, as solo traveler or digital nomad, everything changes all the time around you. There are very few things that stay the same, so it becomes critical and also more difficult not to fail at executing your core habits like journaling, going to the gym, writing and planning your day. Working on the project and creating content or whatever it is that you are doing
The thing is that location has a huge impact on everything we do. That holds true for almost every activity, not only for real estate brokers.
Essentially, while people who live a normal life strive to incorporate variety and diversity into their daily lives, digital nomads do the reverse.
We attempt to introduce some order.
"In all chaos, there is a cosmos; in all disorder, there is a secret order."
Carl Jung
And then there is chaos.
Not all chaos is created equal. There is good and bad too.
Walking through the asphalt jungle in Makati doing street photography and interacting with locals is without any doubt as chaotic as it gets.
But in a good way
Since I was in the red light district, I thought I could also talk about dating and started to ask locals and foreigners why so many Westerners come to the Philippines seeking intimacy and Filipinas for dating.
And that blew up big time, with 1.5 million views (!) on TikTok.
The response was insane.
@romanlbinder Why do so many Western men come to date filipinas ? #dating #philippines #women #filipina #filipinas #feminism
A big shoutout to my loyal reader, Karsten Semmler, who bought this print of a photo I shot in 2022 in Halong Bay, Vietnam. Thank you so much 🙏

We talked about the 3 biggest problems young men face today and how to solve them. You can watch by joining.

There is an epidemic of loneliness among men wherever I go and there is almost no support for men’s issues, which is why more men have killed themselves than ever before in 2023.
If you are interested in understanding these problems rather than approaching them close-mindedly, then I encourage you to watch this:
