Location vs. Financial Independence

Ep 041: The Underrated Secret To Freedom Most Young Men Overlook

In partnership with

Imagine climbing a ladder for years, only to realize it’s been against the wrong wall the whole time.

I know this nightmare well—I was one of those men.

Location vs. Financial Independence

This is a nightmare way too many have to face later in life.

Sure, you can reframe such a monumental fuckup in hindsight and use it as fuel to propel yourself in the right direction once you gain clarity on your new or true purpose.

But you can also just do better from the get-go.

There is this saying that pain is inevitable but suffering is optional. I think this is very true, at least the unnecessary suffering.

"The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion."

Albert Camus

Why Men Struggle in 2024

Why is it so hard to get it right the first time and figure out what your ideal life looks like?

The truth is, being a man in 2024 is hard. Very hard.

We live in a world filled with distractions, conflicting messages, and unrealistic expectations. Yet, few seem to care about our well-being. When was the last time you saw mainstream media highlight issues primarily affecting young men instead of demonizing them as a group?

Exactly. It’s rare at best.

This lack of support leaves us searching for validation, often from the wrong places. We chase approval from people who don’t care about us, and in doing so, we lose sight of what truly matters .

Instead of living life on our terms, we follow the path others set for us.

Rather than exploring life—trying new things, traveling, taking risks, and embracing experiences—we sell ourselves short by chasing quick money.

For most guys, it boils down to status, freedom, and, yes, being able to get laid.

Here’s the thing: you don’t need to sell your soul for quick money or climb someone else’s ladder that leads nowhere. What if I told you there’s a different ladder, one that leads to real freedom?

So I am going to introduce a radical idea to you, which is to focus on location independence first and financial independence will follow naturally, plus all the other desires you wished that motivated you in the first place to make money.

Location independence can give you all of that—freedom to live life on your terms, the ability to connect with others wherever you are, and the status that comes from living an unconventional, adventurous life.

And the best part? You don’t need to be rich to get it.

Location vs. Financial Independence

A Radical Idea

In 2024, real success starts with location independence—master where you live, and financial independence will follow naturally.

Here is why:

1) The Future is Online:

Take a look around. In cafes, in line at ticket counters—everyone’s glued to their screens. That is where the attention is. Where attention goes, energy flows.

Meaning: If you can’t make money online, you’re already behind.

When you choose the path of location freedom, you’re pushed to learn the one skill that matters most today: making money from anywhere.

And let’s be real—everything and everyone is online now.

Master this, and you’ve cracked the code. Once you know how to generate income online, you’ve already won the game. There are plenty of ways to do it, and it’s not a race—you can take your time and build for the long haul.

But you need to start now.

Location independence forces you to adapt, and that’s where the magic happens—adaptation is the ultimate survival skill.

2) It Used to Be Just for Rich People:

Location independence used to be something only trust-fund kids and jet-setting executives could pull off. But thanks to the internet, it's now an option for regular people.

Over the last 10-15 years, remote work and freelancing have made it possible for anyone with a laptop to live wherever they want. Before 2020, working remotely was an employee perk; after the pandemic, it became the norm.

Companies realized people don’t need to be chained to a desk, and suddenly, working from a beach in Bali wasn’t just an Instagram fantasy—it was a legit option.

The rich don't have a monopoly on freedom anymore.

3) Location Independence Makes You Stand Out:

In today’s dating world, most guys are stuck in a losing game.

Because dating apps and Instagram are built around superficial traits like looks, they only benefit women and the top 5-10% of men, leaving the rest chasing often overly narcissistic women who don’t give anything in return.

That is why 90% of men on these apps don’t have any success.

It's rigged against you.

Here’s the game-changer: location independence.

When you’re free to move and live life on your own terms, you become unpredictable, and that unpredictableness is magnetic.

In real life and on social media.

You don’t need to be rich—just having the freedom to choose where you are sets you apart from all the other guys stuck in one place.

4) Being Stuck in a Place You Hate Is Bad for You

Living in a place that matches your preferences isn’t just a nice-to-have—it’s critical for your mental health.

Studies consistently show that people who can choose where they live, especially in places that reflect their values and lifestyle, report higher levels of happiness and lower levels of stress. Research from the University of Sussex, for example, connects living near green spaces with reduced anxiety, showing that being in an environment you actually like can seriously improve your well-being.

That could be an Airbnb on a ridiculously beautiful beach in Thailand that costs you 500 USD per month instead of the 5000 USD you would pay in the US for a similar location (that doesn’t even exist)

Beyond that, the psychology of self-determination tells us that having control over where you live satisfies key human needs like autonomy, which boosts overall happiness. When you live somewhere that aligns with who you are, it feeds your sense of identity and increases life satisfaction. On the flip side, staying stuck in a place that doesn’t resonate with you? It can wreck your mental health.

So yeah, where you live matters—big time. As much as with whom you are surrounding yourself.

It’s Not All About Travel

People think location independence means you’re constantly living out of a suitcase. But for a lot of folks, it’s about having the choice. You might move around or stay put for years, but the point is—you decide.

It’s freedom, not endless jet lag.
