Vanishing Acts: The Search for Inner Peace
Ep 028: Luxor & The Valley of Kings
Instead of sharing the typical tourist traps and attractions in Luxor, where hordes of visitors flock, I decided to share my Luxor experiences by reflecting both inwardly and outwardly.
To me, walking away is a vital skill, allowing me to preserve my peace in a chaotic world.
I have always used self-isolation as a coping method.
I think I am not alone with this and men are particularly prone to doing so. I would argue more than women, who seek solace in groups and connection with other people.
I like observing people.

I believe the lone wolf stereotype is a clichΓ©, but it contains some truth. Maybe I am wrong, though. Itβs just a feeling
Although I've perfected the art of disappearing, deep down, what I truly yearn for is to be found, understood, and accepted, just like everyone else.

Valley of the Kings
At times, I want to disconnect from the outside world and immerse myself in my own universe. It is a means for me to keep my sanity and emotional balance. Disappearing is how I restore my peace of mind in a society that continuously drowns us in noise and tries to manipulate us.
When I withdraw, I can do anything I want, whether it's reading a book, going on a long walk, resting, or doing some photography, without the strain of social interaction.

There's a certain satisfaction in being able to live without the need for affirmation from others.
By embracing the art of disappearing, I've realized the value of self-care and self-awareness. It's about listening to my own needs and creating boundaries, even if it means getting away from the craziness of daily life. Disappearing helps me to recover, reflect, and come back stronger than before.
I made it my full-time job. And I've learned to understand that it's OK. In fact, it's critical for my mental and emotional health. It serves as a reminder that, even in the middle of the rush and bustle of life, it is okay to halt and withdraw into the solace of isolation.

The impulse to hide masks a deeper longing to be discovered. It's not a wish to be forgotten, but rather a want to be sought for, understood, and accepted.
But no one is coming to the rescue. There is only the present moment, which you can either dread or enjoy.
