Ep 040: How Conservatives Misunderstand Globalism

In partnership with

Millions of Digital nomads are abandoning sinking ships, while the 'patriots' drown in their own false sense of nationalism

Facts about a mass migration no one talks about

Right-wing media frequently invokes "globalism" to rationalize their narratives, often portraying Klaus Schwab as a villainous figure and the so-called deep state or elites as the arbiters of our destiny.

What they present doesn’t just sound like a conspiracy theory; it likely is one.

As much as I often criticize the left for its totalitarian and authotarian tendencies, blaming globalism for a country's problems is like blaming the internet for spreading misinformation—it’s not the enemy.

Globalism just is. Like AI or electricity. None of these terms are inherently good or bad.

They are just a consequence of human evolution and they are irreversible. They cannot be unseen nor undone.

So we might as well learn to understand that they work both ways and use them to our advantage.

The Hidden Exodus: Digital Nomads Rejecting False Patriotism

At its core, human behavior is quite simple. Ultimately, we all strive to improve our lives and seek opportunities for ourselves and our families.

There's a saying that people "vote with their feet," and it couldn't be more accurate.

Mirgration is just that; people tend to go where they are treated better.

That’s it. Not complicated. Straightforward.

It's like on a website's landing page—people see it and instantly think,

"What's in it for me?"

If the answer is prosperity, opportunities, security, freedom of speech, and a system that just works, then you'll attract more visitors who can turn into paying customers.

I’m all for the freedom to migrate and explore the world for everyone! More immigration is better than less.

But let’s be real—there are rules for a reason. I’ve been to over 60 countries, and never once did it cross my mind to skip out on fees, ignore the laws, or disrespect the local culture. When I’m in someone else’s home, I honor their way of life and behave. That’s just common sense.

Here is an unpopular opinion: Some cultures are better than others.

To some, this might be a controversial statement but it is not. It is the truth.

The Digital Nomad's rejection of false patriotism

As noted in an earlier post, left-wing totalitarianism is spreading globally, with governments in Brazil, Venezuela, Honduras, the UK, Germany, France, and even the USA. Leaders such as Maduro, Lula, Daniel Ortega, and Keir Starmer, with Kamala Harris (?), are openly and brazenly embracing censorship, consolidating state power, aligning with the corrupted and also dying legacy media, and jailing political opponents.

There is this saying: You can vote for socialists, but you can’t vote them out.

When free speech, due process, and true democracy are sacrificed for a two-tiered justice system—where one party gets a free pass and the other is crushed—it might be time to leave.

“The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new”

Socrates

I remember on my second trip to Latin America in 1999, a group of friends and I went to Venezuela. It was the year Hugo Chavez got elected and I remember his election campaign posters everywhere.

Venezuela was a rich country. One could see people living in abundance

My trip to Venezuela in 1999 before the socialists took over

Then the inevitable happened: socialist policies drove away entrepreneurs if they were not already expropriated and one of the top 10 wealthiest countries only two decades ago collapsed, with GDP per capita dropping over 75% from 2013 to 2020.

Then the exodus began, and Venezuelans started migrating to Mexico and other countries.

I know this firsthand, as I had at least three Venezuelan girlfriends living in Mexico. 😅

The same is starting to happen in Canada, the US, Germany and the UK. Companies and people are starting the leave in hordes.

As contrast:

Javier Milei, despite facing intense smear and defamation campaigns from far-left extremists and ideologues, has swiftly turned Argentina's economy around by implementing bold, market-friendly reforms in just a few months. His focus on deregulation, reducing government intervention, and promoting free-market principles has led to notable improvements in economic stability and growth.

Similarly, Singapore's pro-business policies and Estonia's digital innovation through its e-residency program highlight the success of conservative, business-friendly environments in fostering thriving economies that attract digital nomads and entrepreneurs in general.

I could be wrong, but I think loyalty should only be to the first principles successful countries were founded upon and the people you love.

When corrupt leaders trampel our rights with their feet, then the best we can do is show them the middle finger, turn around and walk away.

Just as you would do with a person who disrespects you.

Alexander Solzhenitsyn famously said in his book The Gulag Archipelago about the Soviet Union and the communists: "In our country, the lie has become not just a moral category but a pillar of the state."

In other words, everyone has to lie all the time until the eventual collapse of the entire system.

It seems to me that some countries are alarmingly nearing this point, and it's astonishing how the majority blindly follow the mainstream, applauding mindlessly like seals because their ideological bubble does not even allow them to look beyond. The ease of access in 2024 to unedited, full-length interviews makes it all the more perplexing to me that so many still cling to curated narratives.

Simply observing which side engages in genuine dialogue and which avoids it reveals a great deal about the integrity of each perspective.

Therefore, achieving location independence is a strategic choice and an act of self-love and even preservation.

I might be wrong, but I think when entrepreneurs leave, it accelerates the decline, forcing the country to confront the failure of those policies sooner, eventually paving the way for a return to healthier, principle-based governance.
